SENSITIVITY TO MOISTURE

It is well know that short chain nylons like PA6 or PA6.6 are mch more sensitive to moisture than a long-chain polyamide like Rilsan® PA11.

IMPACT ON MECHANICAL PERFORMANCE

The increased sensitivity of PA6 and PA66 to moisture leads to variable mechanical properties upon exposure to water.

In this burst pressure test conducted on hose-knitted textile sample, Rilsan® PA11 shows a very good retention of its performance while fabrics based on PA6 or PA6.6 show 15 to 20% change compared to the initial burst pressure of the dry sample.

ABRASION RESISTANCE

Rilsan® PA11 demonstrates similar abrasion resistance behaviors than nylons,

CHEMICAL RESISTANCE

Rilsan® PA11 has demonstrated excellent chemical resistance throughout the years in applications such as Oil&Gas and Automotive, where it is exposed to a variety of harsh environments (chemicals, temperature) for a long period of time.

This long-lasting performance can be put to use in industrial textile applications where continuous contact with solvents is required.

Results are obtained on identically prepared hose-knitted textile samples (DTY multifilaments 78 dtex/24F, elongation 28%, tenacity 4cN/dtex).
Rilsan® PA11 fibers are available worldwide as:
  • Monofilaments
  • Multifilaments
  • Staple fibers
  • Non-wovens
